Gourds have been around for centuries and were used as far back as biblical times to store grain and carry water from the stream as well as many other uses.  Gourds can be found in every corner of the world as both useful household items as well as decorative.  Gourd seeds have been found in the pyramids in Egypt and the seeds were still viable and they germinated.  The possibilities for gourds are endless.

I live in sunny California and have been an artist for 40 years and tried a variety of mediums and canvases, but it wasn’t until early 2005 that I picked up my first gourd and decided to give this new canvas a try.  I’ve tried a variety of mediums on them but find that I like using wood stain more than any other medium.  I never realized what an addiction gourds would soon become for me.

I love the beautiful natural markings that can be found on gourds and I incorporate them into my work.  The wood stains I use have a transparent quality which allows the natural beauty of the gourd to shine through.

I use a variety of design themes, so you will find flowers, dragonflies, leaves and animals, Japanese themes such as the beautiful Geisha, cherry blossom, kanji, lanterns and temples as well as mystical creatures such as dragons, faeries and mermaids.  I will also be doing some Native American themes in the very near future.  Please visit my galleries, you never know what you might find there.

To see what's available at this time, please visit the:

"Gourd Art for Sale" page.

I’m really just getting started on this art, so please come back to see my newly completed designs often.  My galleries will contain previous works, as well as those that are currently in progress.  Please contact me if you are interested in any of the items that are in the works so that I can make sure they are reserved for you

Once my projects are completed, they will be transferred to the "Gourd Art for Sale" page.   If you see something you like that is not currently available, please ask and I will gladly make one just for you.  It will not be an exact duplicate, but an original work of art.

Thank you for coming by.  I hope you enjoy your time here.
